Hello
again,
I come to
you after yet another lackluster showing last night as it relates to the RFW world.
A 140.7 point
performance from my main Raw lineup is easily one of the worst I’ve put out so
far in my two-plus month fantasy wrestling career. Getting two combined points
from Kane, Dean Ambrose, & Curtis Axel will do that to you I suppose. But
kudos to Michelle of Ken Reedy Show fame for
winning this week’s Reedy Show Raw freeroll (again) even with a g00se egg from
Kane in her lineup.
With the
win, she keeps herself in the Top 10 on the RFW leaderboards at #6 overall. Interestingly
enough, six of the top 10 spots on the leaderboard belong to members of our
initial test group. I continue to hold down the #2 spot with The Joan coming in
at #3, Mr. Trivia at #8, Ken at #9, & co-host Dave at #10. PSS’s own Daniel
is making a push for the top 10 though and currently ranks at #11 of 239 registered
players. Sure only 94 of them have recorded any points but we’re still doing
pretty well for ourselves.
I’ve had a
rough couple of showings since losing all my money at Payback but I’m learning
from mistakes, identifying trends, and playing what I feel is the optimal
lineup each week. One of these days, I’ll have another showing decent enough to
back that up. But for now, it’s time to recap another set of drafts. But
firstly, a look back on my ongoing series against The
Joan’s “Weed the People” squads.
My
undefeated streak against WTP finally came to an end. Her 222.5 total points helped
her squeaked out a win over Goatface Killa’s 220.15 point team. Down by 27.25 points going
into Smackdown, my squad almost managed to make up the difference. In the end,
it wasn’t meant to be.
Going into
this week’s set of drafts, we decided to draft our weekly lineups first. This
gave me the #1 overall pick since she beat me in our weekly contest last week. She
got the #1 pick for our Raw draft as a result of me beating her there last time
out.
So let’s
go.

Total

Analysis: “Vegan
Jesus” continues to put up absurd point totals. If you’re reading this, you
most likely have him in your lineups every time out so I need not elaborate
further.
Interesting
move by The Joan snagging Paul Heyman with her third pick. Easily the earliest
he’s gone in any of our drafts. Not a bad move by any means though. I was
hoping for a bit more than the 7.4 points I got out of Christian who I’m sure
99% of the RFW populous have in their lineups for this week at $9,200.
We also
saw some drastic tumbles down the proverbial draft board from all three Shield
members. I didn’t take Seth Rollins, my former #2 overall pick, until Round 10
and, for the first time in six drafts, Roman Reigns wasn’t even drafted.
The
fact that we were both hesitant to put Shield members in over some of the other
options we drafted may have been a foreshadowing of sorts, but you really never know
when they’re going to be in either six-man tag or championship match action. It’s
rare that we see all three of them put up duds. Even rarer for us to see it
happen two weeks in a row. With Money in the Bank coming up, hopefully we get a
little bit of clarity as to what’s next for these d00ds.
A 43.7
point deficit may be a tad much for The Joan to overcome but crazier things
have happened in both reality and fantasy wrestling so don’t rule out a
potential comeback, especially if CM Punk has a rare match on Smackdown this week.

Analysis:
Let’s ignore the fact that we had to enter a three-person game since we couldn’t
find a head to head game to join. Let’s also ignore the fact that TheGame316
was the third person in our game and wound up outscoring both of us. Instead,
let’s focus on the 67.75 point walloping I received at the hands of The Joan en
route to my first nightly game loss to Weed the People.
She could’ve
just played Orton and Bryan and she still would’ve beaten me. Sure that would
be a highly illegal lineup but I think you get the point. Even with point
outbursts from Justin Roberts and Vickie Guerrero, as well as strong showings
from Punk and Berto, I still couldn’t overcome the rest of my roster’s 20
combined points. Sadly, Paul Heyman’s eight points represented the highest
total from that particular group.
The Joan
was very high on Brad Maddox this week. I didn’t trust that he would put up
double digit points two weeks in a row. Instead, he and Vickie proved to be the
best value picks of this draft.
Oh, and
this will easily be the last time I ever draft John Cena in any sort of
environment unless I’m absolutely 100% sure that he’s wrestling that night. As
I was building my team, I realized that I had a lot of money left over and figured
I would take a flier on him to end the draft. Why not pick the WWE Champion,
face of the company, and second most expensive RFW player if given the
opportunity?
I lost to
a team that was forced to pick Heath Slater because of money mismanagement
during the draft. This same Heath Slater scored more points than John Cena last
night.
Sometimes
no explanations are necessary so we’re just going to go with the above.
LOOKING
AHEAD:
There are
definitely a lot of things to consider before setting lineups for next week’s
games. How will what happens on Smackdown affect what happens on Raw
next week? When will we finally see the Wyatt family? What’s next for The
Shield? Can Randy Orton and Vegan Jesus continue their torrid hot streaks Do you continue to ride guys like Jericho, Sheamus, and
Del Rio heading into MITB? Will ANYBODY put Ryback on their roster next week (amazingly, he wasn’t on a
single roster in any of the games I entered)? Do you play either or both of the
Prime Time Players next week against CM Punk and Curtis Axel? Do you take a
flier on the guys who were nowhere to be found this week like Kane, Wade Barrett, The
Miz, Antonio Cesaro, Large Edward Langston, or Dolph Ziggler? Do you take a
flier on The Usos now that they will be challenging for the tag titles? Can
Team Bricky continue to put up double digit point totals each? Will Heath
Slater ever outscore John Cena again?
But the most important question of all:
All I know
is I tried setting my main lineups for both the nightly and weekly games at
this time last week. Don’t do that. At least not until we know what happens on
Smackdown. That’s my sage-like advice for the week. Until next time Pond
People.
