“0-3. My season is over.”
That’s what He would’ve said any other year.
There once was a time when
he would let his failures, not his successes, decide what kind of a fantasy
football week he had. If he approached the game the same way this year as he
did last year, he would’ve completely overlooked the fact that he entered Week
3 with an overall record of 8-8 across his mind boggling seven leagues. And
yes, you read that correctly, 8-8 over seven leagues thanks to the intricacies
of League #7.
The fact that he’s off to
a hot start in four of those leagues, including the two with the highest entry
fees, is overshadowing two 0-3 starts and, pending how the ball bounces in the
upcoming Broncos-Raiders Monday Night Football game, a potentially disastrous
finish to his matchup in League #7.
But, unlike previous
years, he’s finally realized that he can only make decisions based on
information available to him at the time. And while he spends a healthy amount
of time each day scouring the corners of the World Wide Web for the correct information he needs
to improve his craft, he realizes that not every correct decision
will yield him the results he’s looking for. And just because the correct
decisions have led to 0-3 starts for This Guy and William Regal’s Vinegar Strokes, that doesn’t mean that they weren’t the
correct decisions. It just means that they probably weren’t the right
decisions in hindsight.
And we all know that everybody has
perfect hindsight vision.
The right
decisions aren’t always the correct ones. And the correct decisions aren’t
always the right ones. The fact that He’s finally able to tell the difference
between the two (and, despite what you may think, there actually is a huge
difference) is what keeps his two 0-3 starts from being his seasons death
sentence in those leagues.
